Best Electric Paint Sprayers 2020

What is the best electric paint sprayer power paint sprayer on the market?

Traditionally a person would need to use a roller to paint something on a massive scale such as a wall, panel, or anything with a wide surface area. Painting with rollers reduced the amount of time it would take compared to a traditional paint brush.

Now, because technology has advanced so well, we can now apply the same techniques used with a pneumatic air sprayer gun, used for painting cars but electronically. These are electric paint sprayers or power sprayers. I currently own two different paint sprayers both are Graco brand sprayers and both are electric plug-in models. The most recent sprayer I bought was the Graco True Coat 360 DS paint Sprayer. I prefer the electric sprayers to an air unit for many reasons but I’ll cover that later if you chose to continue reading. The first unit I purchased was a Graco Tru-coat plus which was also a great unit. The first thing I wanted to cover in this article is why I chose an electric sprayer opposed to a traditional air powered paint sprayer.

Price- An electric sprayer obviously costs less in comparison to a compressed air sprayer just because of the air compressor alone. The actual sprayer cost more, so that is an additional cost. The cost was the main reason I chose an electric unit, I’m spraying the interior of my newly constructing a home with this new electric sprayer. You could go as far as to say that the electric sprayers are budget sprayers compared to the high end compressed air sprayers. For a corded handheld unit, you could spend as little as $50 bucks or as much as a couple hundred. It really depends on what you need or want. Remember you get what you pay for.

Functionality- Many of these electric sprayers have to come up with great functions to attract the buyer into purchasing their product over a compressed air unit. This ends up being a great thing for the consumer. We as consumers end up getting top quality features on our  Budget priced sprayers at an amazing value. The newest electric sprayers have a great Additional feature, New units have a reusable material cup, replacing traditional paint cups that you just have to wash out. Most of the new units have replaceable bags. When you are done spraying, you just throw out the bag and replace it with a new cup. No washing and replacing of cups involved. Another new option the newest electric sprayers have is a stainless steel piston pump which allows for spraying thin paint at high pressures. This function allows you to paint with a multitude of different paints, from acrylic to shellac, to latex, even sealers, and stains.the functionality of these electric units are great for small to medium projects. Interior to exterior projects are great for these little electric sprayers. The paint cup holds a huge 32 oz (1.21 kg) or more depending on the model, which allows you too not have to fill or replace the cup frequently. Most units only have 2 settings but you don’t need much more than that honestly. Interior or exterior, You can adjust the spray to your desired throw. 1500psi is pretty standard with an airless handheld unit. These electric sprayers are not shot of features and functionality.

Practicality- Talk about handy, a spray painter like the electric ones we are covering versus simply painting by hand is just a night & day difference. A small or large project, it doesn’t matter. You can cut the time of a job in half with an electric paint sprayer. The sprayers use all kinds of paints for all kinds of projects. Interior walls and ceilings or exterior walls, awnings, posts, porches and everything in between. The mobility is very nice, not having to drag an air hose around or push a compressor from room to room. The cordless units are even nicer than the corded units. However, more expensive and you have to consider running out of battery and having to wait to finish the job. Being able to swap out the flex-liners is a total game changer, especially if you are working on a project that involved two different types of paint or different colors of paint, maybe a primer then a paint. There are endless amounts of options because there are endless amounts of projects. The function I like the most is if your spraying and your sprayer clog up and it stops spraying evenly, the unit has a reverse feature where it reverses the suction and that essentially clears the clog. It’s very convenient compared to older sprayers I’ve used, that had no reversal suction feature. The old units like to get clogged and the only way to get the system unclogged is to run paint thinner through the nozzle. Sometimes it takes more than just running paint thinner through depending on where the paint is clogged up at.

Graco TrueCoat 360 DS

I actually purchased this specific system, it’s an airless system and has a ton of really cool features, the grip feels amazing, the hand feel is very nice, it fits in the hand like a glove. The unit isn’t bulky or heavy like some other sprayers. The trigger’s extremely nice as well, the best thing about the trigger is that it clicks when depressed letting you know that you’re painting. When you release the trigger it clicks again informing you that you are now not painting. This feature sounds trivial but when you’re in the process of using it, you begin to appreciate the craftsmanship and it’s all the little features that make this system what it is. The TrueCoat 360 has variable speed which is a nice feature, it comes with 2 spray tips, one for larger surfaces one for smaller surfaces, for being an airless unit this unit really sprays great. The last feature I’ll cover is the nicest feature, in my opinion, is the quick clean-up, the flex-liner bag & cup support that holds the paint uses plastic liners, so you can literally go from using a stain to using paint in a matter of a minute. You open the cup to pull out the plastic liner with whatever paint your using and replace it with another paint. The TrueCoat unit can spray stains, oil-based paints, lacquers, latex paint, honestly, you can pretty much use any paint or primer with this unit. No need to even thin your paint. You can get one to try on Amazon if you want to give one a try.

Graco TC-Pro
This unit is Graco’s contractor model it works at a higher speed and is a little bit nicer of a unit. The Cup and Flex-Liner bags are a little larger. This unit has a newly designed triple piston pump allowing for the smooth airless action. The pro model integrates Graco’s smart control and their Pro-control II features making this a powerful and honestly it’s unmatched in its reliability as a corded sprayer. If you need that little bit extra power for a bigger job maybe the Graco TC Pro is the sprayer you are looking for.

Cordless Sprayers

I’m briefly going to cover the cordless Sprayers from Graco only because technically they are electric paint sprayers. I will cover all the Cordless Sprayers in extensive detail in another Article. There’s a lot to say about the cordless sprayers. Graco ultra handheld sprayer This is one of the best, if not the best top of the line cordless sprayers in the world. At least in the world of Graco sprayers. The functions are the same as their other sprayers, except it has a rechargeable DeWalt 20v Lithium-Ion battery.

Graco Ultra Max handheld

This unit is the next step up the ladder. Visually it’s pretty much the same unit but it’s capable of spraying hot solvents, it is Flammable, very much unlike the Ultra sprayer. The only other difference I’m aware of is that the ultra max comes with a few more Liner bags. It also comes with a 60 mesh and a 100 mesh.

Graco TC Pro plus

On the higher end of the Graco cordless sprayers is the 5.3lb 2000 psi spraying monster unit. The battery is the same as the rest of the cordless units which is nice because of the fact they all interchange. The unit is 120v respectively, it’s a powerful sprayer and right on the line of a contractor professional model. Aesthetically it’s a beautiful, comfortable, attractive cordless sprayer probably one of the best ones on the market.

Graco X Force HD

This is for Professionals only. I only included this unit to show you Graco does make professional cordless paint sprayers. Spraying at a max of 4000 psi. Powered by a 28V lithium rechargeable battery. The battery allows for up to 1 gallon of spraying per battery charge.this unit comes with 2 of those 28v high power batteries. Constructed mostly of a solid metal case, it truly is a heavy duty unit as the name implies. These are used on construction sites, or in professional paint shops, outdoors to paint bridges. It’s used mainly for hard to get to areas, where a corded or hosed unit just wouldn’t work. With an easy throwaway liner system, there’s no clean up involved. Just toss the liner and prime the next bag for spraying.

Conclusion

This unit along with the others, All include a lifetime motor and drivetrain warranty in case anything ever goes south motor wise. This last unit is by far the most expensive electric unit I’ve seen come from Graco. I just wanted to add it to display the variety of electric sprayers Graco offers. Graco is absolutely a company to check out when looking for a paint sprayer. I wouldn’t look anywhere else, they stand behind every product they sell with pride because they sell quality products made right here in the USA. That is something I would be proud to stand behind as well and that’s why I own two Graco paint sprayers and I’ll continue to buy more in the future. Always consult the owners manual when it comes to handling any power tools that work in conjunction with dangerous situations or chemicals.
